Rice Seasons of Sapa
One of the most beautiful periods in Sapa has just drawn to a close – rice planting season. Here we present some photographs of this magical Sapa time and look ahead to the coming seasons.
During planting season, the terraces turn into larger than life ‘mirrors’ filled with water and reflecting the sky’s colours. One of the most extraordinary times is the period from April to May when magnificent natural masterpieces are formed as the fields become filled with water.
Following this, the shimmering water is filled with the green shoots of new rice. The terraces then become blanketed with a lush green as the young rice glows in the sunlight.
This Sapa season unveils the profound bond between the people of Sapa and their land, and a reminder of the intrinsic value of sustainable agricultural practices.
